One more plug

November 4, 2010

I don’t do this often ’cause I know that a lot of you are not in the Chicagoland area, but I’m doing it now because this is worth taking a couple days off work and flying into the Chicagoland area. There’s a Holiday Inn on the other end of our parking lot.

Next week

Tuesday and Wednesday evenings

7 PM

430 Airport Rd in Elgin, IL
It’s right off of Rt. 31, just north of Rt. 90. Turn east on Tollgate Rd and you’re staring at our building.

A couple from our congregation was out at dinner the other day, talking about the Sunday morning service. One of them said, “Church in the Word,” and another couple next to them interrupted to ask if that was the church were Pastor Cistrunk would be next week.

Keith Cistrunk’s reputation precedes him. I wish there was some good video I could post to show you, but the sound is pretty bad on everything I’ve seen.

He’s assembling a special choir for next week: three of his best for each vocal part. He’s covering the cost of bringing his own keyboard player from Texas, and he’s calling together some of the best musicians he’s played with to get them all together for two nights of worship in Elgin.

And if you’ve ever heard Ken Harbaum preach, there’s nothing I need to say. There’s a man in our congregation who travels all over the country most of the year training and supporting local pastors, and that man has given Rev Harbaum some of the highest praise I’ve heard attributed to a Bible teacher. The man has revelation in his little finger that will blow your mind.

Cancel your other plans.

Bring your small group to Elgin. Or your quilt group, or your book club, or your indoor soccer team, or whatever it is you do on Tuesday/Wednesday evenings. Your church has a midweek service you like to go to? Ya, so does ours. We’ve cancelled our midweek service for this, talk to your pastor. Bring him with you.

This is not a weird strategy to grow Church in the Word. This is a weird strategy to encourage and support believers in the Chicagoland area. We don’t want half your congregation here, we just want them blessed and built-up in the Spirit.

So you’ll be here?

That’s right, people: TAMIPANTS IS SINGIN’ WITH THE MAN! :)

I’m gonna make signs that say, “We <3 Tamipants" and "John 3:16" to wave around in the congregation. ;)
