Love Packages Finale

August 14, 2010

We’re on the way home as I type. So we have time for one more Love Packages story.

They work with a man who had moved to a small island in the Philippines as an evangelist. The island was about the size of a Wal-Mart parking lot, and none of the locals wanted anything to do with him.

The guy got some literature from LP, and asked if he could teach their children. Most of the parents kind of passively consented, so he started a small Christian class.

The kids grew, as they’re prone to do, and one day some of them were looking at some Sunday School literature that LP sent. They approached the pastor/evangelist all excited because they’d discovered that they could divide up the kids and do different classes for different age groups. So the pastor let them start leading classes.

Not long after that, they got a small shipment of Bibles and the older boys further discovered that they could take their boats to some of the other islands and share what they’d learned with other people. So the pastor sent them off with books.

Years later, the kids that this evangelist had started teaching with a small box of literature were growing in the Lord, and – at 14 and 15 years old – were pastoring churches on dozens of other islands.

What the Holy Spirit can do with just a little bit of the Word, and young people who are passionately obedient.
