leeland

February 26, 2007

This is an indie-punk band called Leeland. Timothy just pointed them out to me. I’d never heard of them, but I already want any/every CD they have available. A little YouTube research provided a dozen videos of them just worshipping in punk venues and department stores when shows got rained out. Pretty amazing.

Their website is here.

I think they’re alright. They definitly don’t have anyhting on Misty, Jason, Audra, Hillsong. I guess i don’t like them much is because i’m not really in to that style… o well.

It’s the content man…..when are you kids going to start thinking outside the box. that’s the beauty of being made in the image of God. Our ability to create from our own unique design. Give it a few more songs and a some time. And you’ll be telling us about this great worship band called Leeland. Jacob Pena did the same thing with Merchant band.

This excites me. And inspires me. The line that goes He wants His children touches my Spirit!

Not to mention its not really about having something on someone else. We’re a body, and groups like Leeland are playing in public venues and places outside the prayer room that a lot of worship leaders won’t go. They’re reaching people Misty would never reach, and demonstrating what we already know: Jesus is cool!
